"McDonald’s launch at Ampa Skywalk"





McDonald’s launches it 3rd restaurant at the all new Ampa Skywalk, Chennai on November 4, 2009. This is the 25th outlet of McDonald’s in the southern region.

The restaurant is spread at a capacity of 3000 sq feet with a seating arrangement of 150. Apart from this they have a party area for special celebrations.


The inaugural function was started off by conducting a charity auction of McDonald’s first burger at the new restaurant. The proceeds of the auction went to the Spastic Society, TN.

The first vegetable burger was bought by Maheshwari an NRI from Dubai for Rs 1 lakh, the second by Mr Prabhakar Reddy for Rs 30,000 and the third was taken for Rs 25,000 by an anonymous donor.

Apart from this the Wheel of Fortune was rotated to add more excitement to the celebration where donors donated the amount reflected on the wheel. Around Rs 50,000 was added through the Wheel of Fortune.

The cheque was handed over to Mrs Madhumathi Achuthan Director, Spastic Society TN by Ranjit Paliath, Director South McDonald’s India (West & South) and Ampa Palaniappan MD, Ampa Housing & Development Private Limited.

McDonald’s has plans to open 5 to 7 restaurants by the end of 2010 in Chennai as part of their growth strategy.
